The Health Technology & Policy Unit (HTPU)

The Health Technology & Policy Unit (HTPU)

The Unit was established in 2007. Part of our initial funding came from a capacity-building grant from what was then Alberta Health and Wellness. We also received a Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) New Emerging Team on Cancer Technology Decision-Making grant that was used to develop the Priorities in Cancer Care Network (PICCNet). The Unit has also received funding from the Stem Cell Network (a federally-funded Network of Centres of Excellence), Genome Canada, and Health Canada.

Most recently, a second CIHR New Emerging Team Grant: Rare Diseases has enabled us to establish the PRISM: Promoting Rare-Disease Innovations through Sustainable Mechanisms network of research on evidence requirements, decision making processes and social values concerning funding treatments for rare disorders.
